Overview of 2011 - 2012 Champion Award: Preparing Youth for Work

Corporate Voices for Working Families and the Ready by 21 National Partnership are proud to announce the second annual 2011 Champion Award: Preparing Youth for Work. This award recognizes the Individual, Community and Company Leaders who displayed exceptional leadership, vision and commitment in creating local private/public partnerships dedicated to ensuring that youth have the structures and supports needed to be ready for work.

Corporate Voices, as part of the Ready by 21 National Partnership, is working with national organizations to engage private and public leaders to help communities improve the odds that all youth will be ready for college, work and life. This award is specifically focused on highlighting the Individual, Community and Company Leaders who developed local public and private partnerships to ensure that all youth are ready for work. These partnerships may be focused across the entire talent development pipeline from cradle to career.

2011 - 2012 Awards Criteria

2011 - 2012 Individual Leader Criteria

  • Must display exceptional individual leadership, vision and commitment in ensuring that youth have the structures and supports needed to be ready for work.
  • Must be currently employed by a local community-based organization, government entity or company.
  • Must demonstrate achievements and contributions in building local private/public partnerships.
  • These partnership outcomes must be focused on building supports and structures to ensure that youth in the community are ready for work.

2011 - 2012 Community Criteria

  • Must display exceptional community-wide leadership, vision and commitment in ensuring that youth have the structures and supports needed to be ready for work.
  • Must demonstrate achievements and contributions to building local private/public partnerships.
  • These partnership outcomes must be focused on building supports and structures to ensure that youth in the community are ready for work.

2011 - 2012 Community Criteria

  • Must display exceptional leadership, vision and commitment in ensuring that youth have the structures and supports needed to be ready for work.
  • Must demonstrate achievements and contributions in building local private/public partnerships on the local level.
  • These partnership outcomes must be focused on building supports and structures to ensure that youth in the community are ready for work.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I nominate an Individual Leader and the Company that Individual Leader works for?

Nominations can overlap. In other words, you can nominate a company for the award and also a specific leader in that company OR a community and a company or leader in that community.

  • Can I nominate myself, my community or my company?

Yes, you can self-nominate.

  • What do you consider "local"?

Local inculdes county, municipal, city, township or any entity that is below (for lack of a better term) the state level.

  • What do you consider a "leader"?

Any individual on the local level that brings attention and helps to move along public/private partnerships. Could be a nonprofit director, a government employee or a local CSR representative.

  • What do you consider a "private/public partnership"?

The partnership must include at least one public entity, such as a nonprofit agency or local government agency, and a private entity, such as a local corporation.
